FAQ
If you still have an unanswered question after reading this section, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Where are your servers located?
Our servers are located at Netriplex's Uber Center datacenter in Asheville, NC.
Can I have a test IP/file?
Certainly. Test IP: 114.31.211.5 - 100MB Test
What can I do with a virtual server?
You could run a web server, IRC server, game server, DNS server, mail server, store backup files, and much more.
How do I get my fair share of CPU usage?
CPU is allocated by Xen's fair-share credit scheduler. Each virtual servers gets the same CPU priority but with access to a different amount of CPU cores. In the worst case scenario, you're splitting CPU time evenly with other virtual servers, but are still able to use the full potential of the host if others are idle.
On average, we put 10-20 virtual servers or fewer on a 4-core machine. This ensures much better CPU utilization than hosts who put 50+ servers on one machine.
What content am I allowed to host on my server?
It's probably easier to tell you what we don't allow: Nothing illegal and nothing that interferes with other customers and services. In short, if it's legal it's probably allowed. Please read through our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service for clarification.
Do you offer backups?
Because our plans are self-managed, backups are your responsibility. We utilize hardware RAID 1/10 on all of our servers to prevent data loss from hard drive failures; however, this is not a substitute for proper backups.
What operating systems can I choose from?
We offer several 32/64-bit versions of these OSs: CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, Ubuntu, Slackware
OS reloads can be easily performed through our control panel. If you need a custom OS loaded to your server, please contact us.
How long will it take for my server to be setup?
Server setup is instant pending an automatic fraud check.
What payment methods do you accept?
We offer payments via PayPal balance, AlertPay, and all major credit cards through PayPal.
Please contact sales if you need to work out a different payment method.
What if I go over my monthly bandwidth transfer quota?
Transfer quotas are soft caps and if you go over by a few GB we usually won't invoice. We also send an e-mail when you reach 90% and 100% of your monthly quota. If you believe you will have overages consistently, you can purchase additional transfer or upgrade to the next plan level. Purchasing additional transfer ahead of time is $2/100GB, otherwise overages are $5/100GB.
Do you offer IPv6?
Yes we do. We can offer a free /96 IPv6 range to any customer that requests it).
Do you sell CPanel or Directadmin licenses?
Yes we do. You can purchase a CPanel license for $14/month and a Directadmin license for $14/mo.
Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for us to install your control panel.
How come your prices are lower than other providers with similar or lower spec'd services?
There are several reason as to why our prices are lower than competitors.
What transit providers does your network use?
We have a premium BGP mix with connectivity to over 15 providers right now. All bandwidth is optimized by our Internap Flow Control Platform (FCP) for performance based routing only to ensure the absolute best path from the datacenter to the end-user.
Our current providers include: AT&T, Global Crossing, Qwest, Telia, Time Warner, Sprint, AboveNet, Charter, Nuvox, BTN/PCCW, WBS Connect, Comcast, ERC, Level (3), and Savvis.
Additionally, our network will soon be expanded to: WVFiber, XO, TIscali, Telecom Italia, NTT/Verio, and Verizon/MCI/UUNet.
How many virtual servers do you put on one machine?
On average, we put 10-20 virtual servers on any given physical server. This allows for much better IO and CPU utilization than hosts who put 50+ virtual servers on one physical server.
